Having designed gardens for 15 years I am delighted to say I don’t have a signature style, every garden I design is different because every client, every home and every site is different. For me, it all starts with listening. I want to understand how you live, what you love, what you need from your garden and how you want it to make you feel. It’s about creating something that feels like your garden, rather than putting my style onto it.
I love a tricky spaces. Awkward shapes, different levels, challenging sites — these are the things that get me thinking. I enjoy finding the possibilities that aren’t always immediately obvious and making every part of a garden work as hard as it can, without ever making it feel forced.I’m always looking at the bigger picture too. How do you see the garden from your kitchen window? Where does your eye naturally go when you step outside? How do the different areas connect? How does the garden work with the house, and how can we make the most of what’s already there?
I’m a passionate designer, but I’m also a very people-focused one. I care about how my clients feel throughout the process and I want them to feel listened to, understood and excited about what we’re creating together. And ultimately, that’s what I love most about what I do. Seeing a garden come to life is wonderful, but seeing how much happier my clients are in their homes because of it is the really rewarding part. If I can create a space that makes someone stop, smile and think “this is exactly what I wanted” then I’ve done my job.
